Chelsea News: Jose Mourinho Reveals he Wants to Talk to Ashley Cole Cole

Chelsea Boss Jose Mourinho has revealed he plans to have a talk with Ashley Cole who in a month is out of contract with the Blues.

Speaking at a pre-World Cup event for Yahoo in Brazil he insisted he plans to talk to the Englishman who has appeared to have had a foot out of the door for a while.

"With Frank Lampard I spoke a couple of weeks before the end of the Premier League, with Ashley I didn't get that chance.

"They are different situations. I want to see what is going on, what is going to happen. But I will speak to him."

Last month Cole tweeted "I am weighing up my options for playing next season with my agent and sadly it does not look like chelsea (sic) will be one of them." He made only 17 Premier League appearances after having his left back role taken by Cesar Azpilicueta.

Cole was one of three Englishmen including John Terry and Frank Lampard whose contracts were to expire at the end of the season. Terry signed a one year extension while Lampard has signalled the end of his 13 year career at Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho spoke of his belief that Lampard will return to the club in a different role and how it was difficult to speak to Lampard about his exit.

"You can't imagine how difficult it was," he said. "But at the same time, I can feel some happiness about the process because, for sure, he comes back to Chelsea.

The former Real Madrid boss also spoke of Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich's admiration for the retiring Englishman.

"Mr Abramovich - the No.1, the most important person - wants very much for Frank to be back, I want him to be back, the staff want him to be back, so he comes back, for sure.

"The other thing is that he can come back the way he wants. Mr Abramovich has left the door completely open for him on the understanding Frank can do anything he wants at this club.

"He can come back when he wants and, to repeat Mr Abramovich's words, the way he wants.

"He can be a coach, he can start at the academy, he can start being my assistant at the same time because he is doing his coaching badges or he can start in a different role.

"It's not the end of Frank Lampard's career in Chelsea. It's just a little break.

"He is one of the most important players in the history of the club."
