Comparing Dicotyledons and Monocotyledons

Can we Compare the dissimilarities of Dicotyledons and Monocotyledons.
I know very little of Dicotyledons and Monocotyledons which are Dicotyledons are the most primitive angiosperms. They may be trees, shrubs or herbs. most larges trees with branches are dicotyledons. While Monocotyledons are the most advanced plants. they tend to be more efficient and specialized because they have fewer parts. This makes them to show high degree of adaptation to their environment.

Dicotyledons have these feature
* They have a tap root system* Their leaves have veins arranged in a branched network
* They usually undergo secondary growth
* They bear seeds which have two seed leaves or cotyledons each.
* The vascular bundles of their stems and roots are arranged in a regular pattern
* Their floral parts-sepal, petals, pistils and stamens - exist in groups of four or five.
Monocotyledons Have These Features
* They are usually herbs* They bear seeds with one cotyledons each
* They vascular bundles of the stem are scattered.
* Their floral parts exist in groups of three or multiples of three
* Their leaves have veins running parallel to one another
* They have a fibrous roots system
* Monocotyledons do not undergo secondary growth

Well said Vivian. I just want to add something little.
* In the embryo of the dicotyledons it has two cotyledons while monocotyledons have only one cotyledon
* In dicotyledons, the flowers have 4s or 5s parts while in monocotyledons it has only 3 flowers
* In dicotyledons, the leaves are arranged in net-veined while in monocotyledons it is arranged in parallel
* Dicotyledons has only one main root referred as tap root and in monocotyledons it has many roots referred to as fibrous root system
* Dicotyledons has secondary growth while there is no secondary growth in monocotyledons

Dicotyledons has a ring vascular bundle and monocotyledons has a scattered vascular bundle.
In Dicotyledons, the Xylem (water conductin tissue) is in the centre while in monocotyledons, large pith; ring of vascular tissue
