The Health Benefits of Apple
Available all year round, apples are probably the most widely eaten fruit. An apple a day may very well keep doctor away. The health benefits of apples are mostly related to their high antioxidant and fibre content and include cholesterol lowering, cancer preventing and healthier digestion.

Benefits of the soluble fibre found in apples are:

• Pectin, the best-known from of fiber found in apples is the best for lowering cholesterol
• Apples is also good for your heart because it has virtually no saturated fat, cholesterol or sodium

One medium apple with skin contains 0.47 grams of protein, 95 calories, and 4.4 grams of dietary fiber.

These antioxidants, which include querceyin, catechin, phloridzin and chlorogenic acid make apple a very beneficial fruit to eat.
Most of the fibre and antioxidant are found in the skin of the apple.
All apples have high antioxidant levels but the red apples tend to contain more than the green varieties.
