Brief on Nigerian Civil War 1967-1970
Though the thread has been created but this is just a summary of what exactly took place then. I am someone who dislike long story, I like stories in brief. So, if you are my type and my kind then this thread is for you.
1. On 26th May 1967. Lt. Col. Ojukwu convened a meeting of elders
2. On 30th May, 1967, Lt. Col Ojukwu declared Rep. of Biafra
3. On 6th July, 1967, first shell was fired over Biafrans and the war started
4. On 11th August, 1967, Biafrans were in control of mid-west.
5. On 22nd Sept, 1967 Brigadier Banjo. Col. Ifeajuna and Major Philip were tried and sentenced to death
6. On Oct. 1967, Biafrans at Asaba crossed Nigeria to Onitsha and blew of newly completed Niger Bridge behind forces.
7. On April, 1968 Afikpo fell to Nigeria forces
8. On 18th Sept. 1968 Owerri fell to Nigeria Forces and on 3rd April, 1969 the Biafrans re-occupied Owerri
9. On 15th April 1969, Umuahia fell to Nigeria forces
10. On March 1969, Ojukwu was promoted to the rank of general
11. On 1970 Biafrans delegates arrived Lagos for peace talk
12. On 16th Jan, 1970, Gowon received unconditional surrender from the Biafrans.
