sampleing bprocedure

The cluster sampling procedure and the random sampling technique were used for this study. The five faculties with the departments therein constituted the clusters. From the 14 departments in the five faculties, five departments were randomly selected by assigning numbers to them. The pieces of paper with numbers were folded and put in a basket. Then after thorough mixing, one piece of paper was chosen, each time until the five departments have been selected.
Then in order to know the number of students to be sampled from each of the departments the following computation were done:

Thus for medicine and surgery:
1012 X 275 = 50.6 = 51
