Recent attacks by suspected members of Islamist sect Boko Haram have claimed the lives of 40 persons in Jakana, which is 35 kilometres away from Maiduguri, Borno State capital. Two police officers were also killed and the only police station standing on the Maiduguri/Damaturu highway in Jakana was burnt down to ashes.
The number of casualties in the state since Saturday now stands at 166, after the group during Saturday’s twin attack on Ajilari-Bintu Sugar and Mainok killed 91 persons and on Sunday in the attack on Mafa killed 35 persons, including three police officers.
May God help us all
