Imo state Airport was built by individuals and was initiated under the leadership of Sir Sam Mbakwe.
This 21 new generation of igbos can set new record. Is it not better we build classic Seaport by ourselves?
Can we continue waiting on government?
Igbos are the richest tribe in Nigeria, we can do it.

It is possible why not if Ethiopians both home and abroad can contribute and build the biggest dam man made water reservoir for hydro electricity ,why not you BIAFRANS to take this challenge and build our see port,we southern Cameroon depends on supplying from Nigeria especially on goods from South East both BIAFRA made goods and imported goods

@Princess A very good idea and observation, but, building a seaport is not problem but federal approval to function is the main issue

I am beginning to hear what I want to hear from Igbos in this forum.
Let's push for it, we can do it, we can make happen

Erosion is dealing with our environment in the east and no one is doing anything about it but we can do it. We can start with minor projects and advance to bigger ones

@Princess, you don't know what I have seen. The envy and bitterness towards the igbos has gotten to a level I can no longer ignore. The faster we fix our home, the b or every son and daughter of Igbo land

The zeal is excessively burning in you like fire, i pray let the zeal wide spread to every sons and daughters of Ala igbo

I can't believe this idea is coming from a lady. @Princess may you be blessed.

The fulani government cannot do anything to us when we decide to fix our land. Ó zi na ihere adizi anyi n'anya? Where is our pride as a people? Don't we have shame again?
Nobody can stop us as a people, I repeat nobody. Do you know what they call our land? They call it "portor portor land" and that is just the one I have seen and can remember.
This past election has shown the Igbo man that he has no say in Nigeria. Imagine our brothers and sisters being harassed in Lagos because of candidate to vote for. All this has to stop.
There is no place like home and our governors CANNOT HELP US!
I am very passionate about this and it has been in my heart for quite a while that is why immediately I saw this post I knew something positive is about to happen

Let the fire be ignited in our hearts for our homeland. They said our land is landlocked and that it is barren that is why we run to other places to survive, but is that true? No! I say so because nothing is impossible for an igbo man with God on our side.
Government or no government we shall grow. May God cause the fire of zeal and advancement for our home land burn in our hearts in Jesus name, Amen.
C'mon everyone, this is what we owe ourselves. Spread the word because the time has come for us to come together as one for our common good. We don't leave things to chance, we change the narrative ourselves. That's the Igbo spirit!!!

Imo airport was built by the entire state, not individuals - all rich, poor, school children, civil servants and everybody else contributed. Iwuanyanwu headed the body that organised and supervised the realisation of the project.

Guys and ladies, good morning. Our comments so far are good and I can see we all have our hearts facing the east even though we may be residing in other places. But there is a mistake I've observed some of us are making and that is calling for assistance from our millionaires and billionaires so soon. It's still early.
Let me tell you what I believe. I believe that these rich individuals want the same thing we want but because of their outside investments are too scared to push for it. And remember that igbos are individualistic people. Y nature. We love to do things alone and not collectively. And that has been our downfall as a people.
Now for us to get the progress we require, we need to make a little tweak in our nature and that is coming together. We don't need the so called rich men just yet. Even they will not listen to us if we approach them now. But we can start to make an impact on our own and they will be the ones begging us to collect their own contributions.
If we wait for our state governments we will grow old and igbo land will still be underdeveloped just like it is today. Let us forget those people and build things ourselves. Once the see that the people have become one, they will back us

Not when you have greedy and thoughtless rogues like Rocha's as the Governors.

@Chinedum Ugoji . A seaport is not a football field. It requires Executive manipulation because it is a Federally controlled facility. You cannot wake up, call your villagers to come and start contributing money.
Seaports are exclusively in the Nigerian Ports Authority powers by the constitution. The inland waterways authority is vested in the control of all inland waterways to which Oguta belongs. There is therefore a tripartite requirement and collaboration in this circumstance. As the Executive is of a hostile party, it cannot accede to the concession. For it controls the Ports Authority and the Inland waterways.
On the other hand, a seaport in Igboland requires gigantic civil engineering. You cut a deep canal and channel from Bonny into Oguta. The sum for such is beyond the present Federal Government. It will need foreign investments as the EU, China, IMF and or the US governments participation and financing. It is not "enyinba enyi " issue. Don't forget about the the Federal intrigues that will abort it to continue giving Lagos continued advantages and monopoly.
