Barcelona defender Marc Bartra has a €8million (£6m) buyout clause in his contract, according to the Spanish newspaper Sport. Liverpool, Valencia and a number of other clubs have been linked
with a move for a player.
The paper does believe however that Barca do want to offer the 25 year old a new contract but strangely they don’t want the
player to stay at the Camp Nou. Bartra’s current contract expires in 2018 but they want Bartra to extend it by two years. The
plan is to allow the player to leave on loan to gain more first team action and then return to the Catalan club as an improved
player.
Sport also reports that there has been contact with Villarreal and Borussia Dortmund but neither club is interested in signing Bartra. The Spanish international will be at the European Championships but there seems to be very little interest from either the player or Barca for the player to stay at the club. The Premier League doesn’t
see to be a likely destination as Sporting Director Roberto Fernandez and the player’s
representatives believe that England would not fit the player’s style of play. Mundo Deportivo, another Catalan based newspaper, believe that Valencia is Bartra’s
preferred club.
